What is sedation dentistry?
Sedation Dentistry is a proven method of enabling patients to receive necessary care they might otherwise neglect because of fear or anxiety about dental care. Sedation dentistry uses sedative agents to allow patients with mild to severe anxiety to receive dental care comfortably. Patients may be lightly relaxed by laughing gas or profoundly sedated with pills or intravenous medications. After consultation, we will select the type of sedation most appropriate for you.
Who might benefit from sedation dentistry?
We see patients nearly every day that have endured an unsightly or painful dental problem because of the fear and anxiety they experience when they just think about going to the dentist. We understand how they feel about coming to the dentist. You might benefit from dental sedation if you have experienced any of the following situations:
- Felt uneasy about an upcoming dental appointment
- Got nervous sitting in the dentist’s reception area
- Worried about getting numbing shots
- Had experienced a painful trip to the dentist
- Delayed necessary dental treatment because of anxiety or concern for comfort

Dr. Deyton received his training in sedation as a part of a post graduate residency program accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.
